Radical Ideas

By Jonathan Feaster

2007-03-30

A few weeks ago Congressman Ron Paul officially announced his candidacy for President in 2008; but you would never know it if you get your news from television and you might be lucky if you read about it in the newspaper. Luckily, those of us who get their news from the presently unregulated internet haven't been missing out on the great news that's out there. Don't get me wrong...No man's perfect; but I do believe that he is a good man and a good statesman and that if we had more people who were even half as reasonable as he is, then Americans and the rest of the world would have a good start on the road to recovery. He's that good and he's also a humble man who has replied to such praises with "It's easy when you look at my competition!"

One can only guess why the media has ignored this "minor candidate". The explanation might be that he is simply perceived as being "too radical" for most people. If that's true then it sure is a sad state of affairs when we are slipping so fast and deep that ideas of liberty are now considered "radical". It's true that you can't believe everything that you read but, if more people would go beyond the news, then they would discover that liberty was already once considered a radical idea in the past that was first mocked, then feared and ultimately accepted and thrived here in America for over a century. I hope America will be able to recall the meaning of Liberty someday soon because, if we continue to be ignorant of it, we'll be repeating history instead of learning about it the easy way by reading about it.
